Cindy Kaaina, Independent Mortgage Broker

Cindy Kaaina started in the mortgage industry in 1985 and has processed, closed, and underwritten loans (and managed people in those positions) on a local and regional level. Today, as a loan officer, she “loves helping individuals and families realize their dream of owning a home. How cool is that!” 

Over the years – by solving problems and working around obstacles – Cindy has helped countless borrowers who wouldn’t have been able to get a loan qualify for a mortgage and obtain their dream of homeownership.

Upfront and honest with everyone she works with, Cindy focuses on educating borrowers. She has a gift for breaking down the home loan process into simple steps, explaining what’s needed and what’s coming next.

Every time she’s able to obtain a mortgage for her clients, Cindy gets as excited as they do, knowing what a difference owning a home can make in their lives and that it could be “the best investment they’ve ever had.” Cindy is equally thrilled when she can help clients refinance a home loan to lower their payments and/or pull cash out to pay off bills of improve their homes.

Raised in Bend and Oregon City,  Cindy has spent most of her career in the Lake Oswego and Portland areas.

Outside the office, Cindy enjoys spending time with her adult sons (Robbie and Kyle), kick boxing, kayaking, hiking, gardening, wine tasting, and traveling. She’s also deeply involved in animal shelter and rescue work, and her family includes two rescue cats and two rescue dogs.

Cindy’s passion is volunteer work, including Encompass Life Foundation (which helps at-risk families get into housing), Reach Development (which helps create affordable housing opportunities), and Portland Housing Center. She also works with The Children’s Cancer Association, Habitat For Humanity, and Portland Youth Builders.

Cindy is a member of the Women’s Council of Realtors, a board member for Street Savvy Dog Rescue, and a past board member for Encompass Life Foundation.
